Learning that you
or a loved one may have a coagulation
disorder can be shocking and confusing
but what are coagulation
disorders?
Coagulation
disorders are problems in the blood
clotting system. These disorders
can lead to either excessive clotting
in the blood causing clots to form
without injury to the blood vessels,
or inadequate clotting leading to
prolonged bleeding. These disorders
are rare and often result in other
complications.
The Central
Virginia Center for Coagulation
Disorders dedicates its efforts
to caring for and educating patients
and their families. Specifically,
the center offers services for the
following disorders: Hemophilia,
von
Willebrand Disease, Thrombophilia,
Thrombasthenia, Glanzmann's Bernard
Soulier, Platelet Dysfunction and
other acquired
bleeding disorders.
