Our future is brighter than ever. Just as we’ve done over the past 165 years, we continue to grow, adding new staff, taking on new challenges and working to meet the changing needs of our patients.

Our Strategic Plan – 2004–2009

Recently, our key leaders and employees embarked on an institution-wide, strategic planning effort to guide us through the next five years. As a result, our 2004-2009 strategic plan addresses key markets, operations issues and constraints. It also addresses:

  • Focusing investment on programs that offer strategic potential, meet forecasts of demand, and support the academic purpose of the institution.
  • Reinforcing that the recruitment of physicians, staff and technology to broaden our clinical and research base is an essential element of these investments.
  • Developing short and long-term approaches to meet workforce needs, including the retention and recruitment of physicians, nurses, technical staff and the development of the emerging workforce.
  • Investing in information technology.
  • Continuing pursuit of improvements in clinical and service quality.
  • Maximizing utilization of existing staff and facilities.
  • Beginning the phased, long-term redevelopment of the clinical facilities supporting health system operations.
  • Securing the long-term financial stability of the health system.
