New Construction & Technology

VCUHS is in the midst of an exciting construction and technology renovation plan that will make our facilities a true reflection of the world-class capabilities and employees we attract.

Our ten-year construction and development plan will renovate our facilities in five phases. The first phase (currently underway) is the exciting addition of a new bed tower. This $110 million replacement facility will provide 300 critical care and isolation beds. It will be built on the site of the old steam plant on 13th Street at the VCU Medical Center.

The tower is set to open in the fall of 2007.

Other phases of the plan include a floor-by-floor renovation of the Main Hospital, demolition of the North Hospital, renovation of the Massey Cancer Hospital as well as our education and support facility.
