DESCRIPTION:The VCU annual Stroke Symposium features noted faculty and experts in the f
 ield. As an academic tertiary referral center, VCU cares for complex stroke 
 patients including, but not limited to, hemorrhagic stroke. Our speakers inc
 lude our Stroke Medical Director, Board certified vascular neurologists, neu
 ro intensivist, neurosurgery endovascular interventionalist, and neuroscienc
 e ICU nursing faculty. VCU Medical Center is recognized by the Joint Commiss
 ion as a certified Advanced Primary Stroke Center, American Heart Associatio
 n/American Stroke Association  Gold Performance Awardee, and on the Target S
 troke Honor Roll (IV-TPA Golden Hour). The Neuroscience ICU is a Beacon awar
 d winner by the American Association of Critical Nurses in recognition of it
 s excellence in critical care nursing. In 2011 VCU Health System celebrated 
 its redesignation as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing 
 Center. This timely one-day conference is designed for healthcare profession
 als interested in comprehensive stroke care. This year's focus is recent adv
 ances in the care of hemorrhagic stroke (ICH and SAH)  patients.\n\nLearning
