Medical Informatics & Technology Application Consortium (MITAC)
MITAC is a NASA Research Partnership Center focused on research in telemedicine for use in the human space flight. MITAC Director Dr. Ronald C. Merrell regularly utilizes international testbeds, such as performing surgery in the jungles of Ecuador while monitoring anesthesia here at VCU.
Research on bio-sensors, medical education for international physicians, and using telemedicine in remote areas are some of the areas of current investigation.
