Here at the Rehabilitation and Research Center, our patient's structured treatments are scheduled between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Specialized nursing care, respiratory care and wound care are conducted 24 hours a day. Our occupational therapist may work with appropriate patients on their dressing skills between 7:30 am and 8:00 am. If a patient is working on feeding and swallowing skills, the speech and occupational therapist may choose to work with patients during breakfast or lunch. Occasionally, therapeutic outings are held during the evening hours, until 6:00 or 7:00 pm.
Visiting Hours: Individual family members or care-givers are invited to observe and participate during treatment hours for education and training purposes. Large group of visitors and visitors with small children are limited to visiting hours only. Visitation is encouraged during meals or following therapy hours from 3:00 pm- 9:00 pm Monday - Friday. Weekend visiting hours are from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm.
Patient Meals: Meal times are as follows:
- Breakfast: 8:00 am-9:00 am
- Lunch: 12:00 pm-1:00 pm

Clothing and Personal Items: Patients are expected to wear street clothing. Loose fitting, athletic or exercise wear works best. Shoes are also encouraged, (tennis shoes or walking shoes work well). If shoes are too uncomfortable, non-skid socks must be worn. A washer and dryer are available on the nursing unit and in the therapy gym for patient use. Personal grooming supplies such as make-up, hair products or razors may also be brought from home. All clothing and personal items should be clearly marked with the patient's name with a permanent marker.
Cash and Valuables: Patients are discouraged from bringing large amounts of cash or valuable jewelry. The Rehabilitation and Research Center is not responsible for money, jewelry, cell phones or other items of value left at the patient's bedside. Money and other valuables may be checked in with the unit clerk and kept in cashier's office for safekeeping.
Leisure choices during free time: Patients may find themselves with extra time on their hands between therapy sessions, in the evenings and on the weekends. We encourage patients and families to plan ahead for these "down times" by bring activities from home such as books, magazines, puzzles,or cards. Free time can also be filled with visits or calls from friends and family, writing cards or letters, or practicing home exercise program. The Recreation Therapists are also available to assist patients with ideas and activities during their free time.
Hospital Hospitality House: For our patients who have traveled a long way for their medical and rehabilitation services, their families may be referred to the Hospital Hospitality House for lodging.
