Information
The Division of Urology provides medical and surgical care to men, women and children with disorders of the prostate, kidney, bladder, penis and testicles. Cancer, stone disease, voiding dysfunction, incontinence, impotency, urinary infections and prostate enlargement are treated. The division has the latest technology, including lasers, a lithotriptor, transrectal ultrasound, penile prostheses, incontinence prostheses and video-urodynamics equipment. All physicians are board certified. The faculty contributes regularly to research literature.
Men and women with malignant (cancer) tumors of the kidney and bladder are cared for. In men, cancer of the prostate, penis and testicles is diagnosed and managed. The evaluation of hematuria (blood in the urine) is an important function. The division provides screening for urologic cancers in patients who have no symptoms, especially for prostate cancer. Once the diagnosis is established the situation is carefully explained. All the potential options for treatment using the most advanced modalities available are explained carefully to the patient and his/her family. The goal is maximally effective treatment with minimum discomfort to the patient. Opportunities are available for patients with advanced malignancies to participate in national clinical trials.
