The N-Deck center accepts children of Health System employees from the ages of 6 weeks old to 5 years old during the day, has a summer camp program for up to 12 years old, and provides week-end and holiday care for ages 6 weeks-12 years.
We accept the children of hospital employees, state employees, and students ages 6 weeks to 6 years at the VCU Health System Family Care Center at VDOT. Hours: 7am-6pm Monday through Friday, closed all state holidays.
We also have an adult day service program (6:30a-6p). There is an evaluation process to determine if this setting is appropriate for your loved one. The children and adults have the option to interact in special intergenerational activities!
Back-up care for children of Health System employees can be arranged through Bright Horizons; this service can be helpful when you cannot use your usual child care arrangements. Please contact us to get on our waiting list, or to inquire about holiday, week-end, evening care or summer camp enrollment.
Curriculum:
We use the Creative Curriculum as a framework; it is a developmentally appropriate curriculum for all ages. The emergent component of our work with the children is inspired by the Reggio preschools in Reggio-Emilia, Italy. Our teachers believe that children can make choices about what they want to learn. We:
- listen, observe, and ask questions
- participate in projects that emerge from the children's interests
- discuss the children's interests and develop activities that meet the children's needs
- ask parents to be our partners in the learning process.
- plan activities and they emerge from the collaboration of the children, teachers and parents
