Information
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University continues to enjoy rebirth. Through programs at VCU's Medical College of Virginia Hospitals and the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veteran's Administration Medical Center (VAMC), the division has aggressively undertaken its rebuilding by focusing on high quality clinical programs in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery.
Among the many exciting clinical programs recently emphasized in the division are the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat lung and esophageal malignancies, the development of the mechanical circulatory support programs, reinvigoration of the heart and lung transplant programs and plans to explore minimally invasive techniques to perform coronary revascularization in the future. These developments will serve to reestablish the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery as a regional and national leader in cardiovascular surgery.
