The Department of Internal Medicine offers a comprehensive array of consultative and inpatient services encompassing all areas of Internal Medicine and its subspecialties. Primary care for adults, provided by general internists, is available at the Ambulatory Care Center and Stony Point.
In addition to providing primary care services, physicians can provide referrals to a broad range of specialists and diagnostic services, should the need arise. The physicians and staff place a high priority on keeping the referring physician informed of the progress of the patient. Each specialty maintains 24-hour attending staff available for consultations and referrals who can be reached through the VCUHS Physician Access Line.
